Have you created an Amazon seller central account? While listing your product under your brand, is Amazon throwing a 5665 error? Do you own or have legal authority to sell that brand product?
So, today, I will share you the best way to list your brand product without brand registry on Amazon.
Who can sell on Amazon without Brand Registry?
Generic product
A product that is generic having no brand name can easily be listed and sell on Amazon. At the time of listing, select “This product does not have a brand name”. You are done.
Brands with barcodes purchased from GS1
Barcodes are the key product identifier (EAN/UPC/ etc). Any brand who is having barcodes purchased from GS1 can sell on Amazon without registering their brands.
What you will need to list your product under your brand name?
- A seller central registered with the same business/brand document.
- Your brand packaging photos.
So, if you falls under this category, take the next step and launch a case in the seller central. Attach product packaging photographs having your brand name/logo. You will receive a confirmation from Amazon within 48-72 hours.
Brand retailers
A brand retailer who is reselling brand products can sell on Amazon without brand registry. You will need to ask the brand company official to generate a letter of authorisation that you are a licensed seller and can list and sell their brands on Amazon. Make sure to get EAN/UPC (You want to sell on Amazon) numbers printed in the letter of authorisation for detailed investigation by Amazon support team.
Requirements to replenish error code 5665:
- Letter of authorisation on the brand’s official notepad (PDF)
- Real-time product photos with brand packaging images
Private Label /Home made products without barcodes
Amazon has a space for Private label products and home made products without barcodes. They can apply for GTIN exemption and can sell products on Amazon. Though, you need to apply for GTIN Exemption in the seller central.
Requirements to get rid of error code 5665:
- Product photos with packaging
- Private label product packaging with logo (text/icon) and title
Homemade products seller can take pictures of their products and submit them to Amazon support. For Private label brands, you can ask suppliers to provide you images. This will help you make listing and sell on Amazon.

I was trying to list a brand product on Amazon. The UPC have been purchased through GS1us.org. When we put the brand name under the input field “Brand name”, it thrown an error 5665.
It was asking us to either register the brand for Brand registry or share brand packaging image.
We contacted the support with the below template:
As per Amazon’s suggestion, we mentioned “error code 5665” in the beginning of the message. We added the required package design images to the message copy and shoot the message to the support team.
After two days of waiting time, we finally get a messaged from the Amazon support team. Hurray, they allowed the application. We successfully listed the product of the client on Amazon USA.
So, if you are facing the issue try the same thing and Amazon will unlock you to add products under your brand name.
